The 15th Annual Reunion - Thoresby Hall

60th ANNIVERSARY OF 2 SQN 49th ENTRY

Those attending this15th Annual Reunion were :-

Geoff Plaxton and Chris //  James and Kayl McComisky // Russ Harvey

Barry Branigan // Alistair McCrindle // John Evans // Mick and Sue Dring

Geoff and Diane Parsons // Peter and Shona Morrison // Bob Pitt // Rob Izatt

Dave and Georgie Beaumont // Barry and Ann Hood // Harry Hood

Ron and Lynn Thompson // Mike and Jan Stephens.

We were all sorry to hear that three of our group had, had to cancel,  Alan Gray due to knee Op and also Malcolm Jones and Bob Rock because of illness. Shortly after the reunion we were all very sad to hear from Pam that Malcolm had passed away.

Since the 14th reunion we have also lost three more of our 49th Entry comrades, Richard Wardrobe, Terry Muff and Nigel Swift, all of whom, like Malcolm were attendees of the reunions. We are so very grateful to have had that opportunity to meet them once again since Hereford 1963.

There was a lot more sitting down, relaxing and chatting at this reunion, but the snooker challenge still took place, and yet another record was broken. After one LONG hour Pete Morrison pocketed the last red making a break of "3" the highest in the game so far. It was agreed by all taking part that we were glad Bob Cuss was not there as the Air would have been Blue !!!

With the weather a bit inclement, Des's "walk about" was postponed, and the group photo had to be moved inside to the main hall where a number of our party had enjoyed a guided tour of Thoresby Hall giving its history with ghost stories and all.

We were once again afforded a private room for all our meals which was a real bonus, as this allowed us to set up our own seating arrangements, well done Dave Beaumont. At Tuesdays evening meal Geoff Plaxton gave a superb toast to the King and Absent friends bringing a tear to the lady waiting on our table.  It was very rewarding to know that forces veterans are still held in high regard.

Dave thanked everyone for making the effort to attend and gave a special mention to Barry Hood and Ann for once again making the long journey from Canada. It was also very pleasing to get an excellent response for next years reunion.

Many Thanks

Mike
